The Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) of Winnebago County, established under the Military Veterans Assistance Act of Illinois and financed by Winnebago County, operates as a local government entity. Oversight is provided by a Commission composed of representatives from Veteran Service Organizations within Winnebago County.

The primary objective of the Veterans Assistance Commission is to furnish public aid, advocacy, and assistance to Veterans and qualified dependents residing in Winnebago County. Moreover, our Veteran Service Officers aid Veterans and their dependents in preparing, presenting, and pursuing claims with the Veteran Benefits Administration.
