Audits
Each Veterans Assistance Commission is required to conduct an annual audit in compliance with the Governmental Account Audit Act. This audit may be carried out either by the auditing services offered by the Commission’s respective county or by an independent auditor hired by the Commission itself. In the case of using an independent auditor, the Commission is responsible for covering the cost of the audit. Once the audit is completed, a copy of the resulting report must be submitted to the president or chairperson of the county board to ensure proper oversight and transparency in the Commission’s financial practices.
