Appointment of Assistant Superintendent – Veterans Assistance Commission of Winnebago County

The Veterans Assistance Commission of Winnebago County (VACWC) is pleased to announce that Maryna Misiewicz has been appointed Interim Superintendent, effective August 20, 2025.

Maryna previously served as Superintendent of the Stephenson County Veterans Assistance Commission in Freeport, IL, for 16 years, from July 2007 to September 2023. In that role, she gained extensive experience in veteran services administration, program oversight, and community engagement.

Before her leadership in Stephenson County, Maryna proudly served 10 years in the United States Army in administrative support positions. Her military career included assignments at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; U.S. Army Headquarters in Vietnam; Military District of Washington, D.C.; Fort Belvoir, Virginia; the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; the U.S. Army Materiel Command in Alexandria, Virginia; and the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C.

A graduate of Lanark High School, Maryna also attended courses at Highland Community College.

Maryna’s proven leadership, her strong background in military and veteran service, and her long-standing commitment to the veteran community make her exceptionally well-prepared to guide the VACWC during this transition period.

He has successfully assisted thousands of veterans, dependents, and survivors in securing federal, state, and local benefits, generating millions in awarded compensation. He is Nationally accredited through NACVSO and cross-accredited with VFW and DAV, Willie combines deep regulatory knowledge with a passion for serving the veteran community.
