Veterans Transportation Assistance

The VAC provides transportation to qualifying applicants. Possible transportation includes but are not limited to local medical appointments and rides to the VA Medical center in Madison, Wisconsin. This service exists to provide Veterans with safe and reliable transportation to medical facilities at no charge.

Reservation Procedure

Please schedule your appointments between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm so everyone can get to their appointments and back home in a timely manner.

Call at least Five working days before your appointment to ensure a ride with us.

Transportation Policy

Must be a Veteran.

Must provide a DD214 – Applicants for assistance from the VACWC must present a DD-214 or Certificate of Service showing eligible service and character of discharge for the Veteran. If the applicant does not have a DD214 or Certificate of Service, they may authorize the VACWC to obtain a copy from IDVA, National Archives or other available repositories. No assistance can be granted to an otherwise qualified applicant without a DD-214 or Certificate of Service. Please review to our Services Manual for further information.

Must have a VA Approved appointment, even if it is outside the VA campus.

Must have the ability to enter and exit the vehicle without assistance.

Must call the office to let us know if your appointment is canceled by the clinic or you, the Veteran, or if you find another ride.

Rider Guidelines

Due to limited space, we can only allow Riders to bring:  small bag for personal items, fold-up walkers, canes, small portable oxygen tanks or concentrators. We cannot allow non-folding walkers, wheel chairs, electric scooters, IV poles, wheeled oxygen tanks or concentrators.

Pleases keep all items with you. We are NOT responsible for personal items you bring along or leave behind.

Be considerate of the Driver and other Passengers.

No obscene language, no threats or intimidation will be tolerated. No alcohol or recreational drugs allowed in the vehicle. Always maintain good personal hygiene.

Our drivers are all volunteers. That donate their time to help Veterans get to their appointments in a timely and professional manner.

Call our office to schedule your ride as soon as you get your appointment letter or call from your health care provider.

Reimbrusement for travel is not allowed when transported by our van.

FREE! RMTD bus vouchers are available for veterans.
